How long have you been in business?
Since 1999, primarily on the internet at www.catbirdpets.com. We're also members of various pet bird and cat clubs in Texas.
What is your primary product or service?
We offer well known brands of dog, cat and pet bird food and supplies, including toys. We are constantly adding new items so our customers have a wider range of items to pamper their pets.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I raised canaries and finches for years and my wife raises Ragdoll cats. We have always had pet dogs as well. I've attended pet club and private shows. Since the number of these has dwindled, I decided to open this shop.I also wanted something to do that I like after I am probably forcibly retired.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
As opposed to the big box retailers, we believe we actually know something about pets and can guide our customers to selections which are better for their pets' health and well-being.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
This is our only walk-in location. We're a one-man show so expansion is not on the agenda.

From Houston take 45 South to the Dickinson / FM 517 exit. Go east on FM 517 approx. 2 miles to Hwy 3. Left on Hwy 3 2 blocks then left on Termini. We're 1/2 a block down on the right, across from the post office.Yahoo maps or other online sources can provide a guide also.
What type of payments do you accept?
MasterCard, Visa, personal checks and cash is still considered good. We have a computer and can be paid through Paypal as well.
Which areas do you service?
We are easily accessible from Galveston, Clear Lake, League City, Dickinson, Santa Fe, Seabrook, Kemah, Texas City and the south Houston area.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Gary Hammett and, as indicated above, we're only open Saturday, Sunday and by appointment.
