Solvay Chemicals' subsidiary, Solvay Fluorides, LLC, produces and distributes fluorine-based products such as brazing flux used in the manufacture of automotive heat exchangers, and high purity hydrofluoric acid, used by the semiconductor industry for the cleaning and etching of silicon wafers. Applications for other Solvay Fluorides products include uses such as contrasting agents in ultrasound examinations, and as pharma-aerosols, an ozone-friendly solution to CFC-based metered-dose inhalers.

Solvay Fluor Mexico, located in Ciudad Juarez, manufactures ammonium bifluoride for the glass and metallurgical industries, and anhydrous hydrofluoric acid for stainless steel and other metal processing applications, petroleum alkylation and the manufacture of fluoro-derivatives.
